The idea behind the first Georgia Tech solar-powered project was to take apart a car and reconfigure it with only electrical components. The team removed the combustion portions of the engine and integrated the circuitry required for power via solar energy. This is the grandfather of the modern solar racing team and has inspired generations of solar racers.
